VOLUNTEER EMS DEPARTMENT

About Our Fire Department

Our Station houses "Southwest Medic 5". Southwest Medic 5 is one of nine BLS (Basic Life Support) ambulances for Grant County EMS. We provide BLS care such as CPR, trauma care, patient care at auto accidents, diabetic related emergencies, difficulty breathing emergencies, and much more. We rely on Marion Health ALS (Advanced Life Support) units for more complex emergencies. Medic 5 is staffed with 100% volunteer staff. In January of 2022, Southwest Medic 5 merged with Swayzee Volunteer Fire Department. The Swayzee Volunteer Fire Department leadership manages Southwest Medic 5.
