Power
AEP is aiming to have power restored would be by 11 p.m. on April 2. But some residents will have power sooner.
Shelter
- Residents who need shelter or assistance from the Red Cross may go to the fire department or call 765.922.7800
- The Swayzee Fire Department is working with Fairmount to create a shelter location. Also, the Fire Department is working on a means of transportation for those who cannot travel to the Fairmount shelter.
Water & Supplies
The Fire Department has a large supply of drinking water at the station. Residents may collect water as supplies last.
Volunteers
Any volunteers are welcome!
- Please call the Clerk's office at 765.922.7953. The office is compiling a list of names so that if we have more volunteers helping, the office will contact the list in order to coordinate needs and directions.
- Wear appropriate clothing.
- Bring tools if available.
Property Clean-up
Swayzee homeowners or residents who would like help with continued clean-up of tree limbs and debris may contact the Clerk’s office at 765.922.7953.
Residents can begin their own property cleanup by taking debris to the following areas:
If contractors are hired by a homeowner to do tree work, the contractor is responsible to haul away limbs. Contractors may take loads to the town burn pile, but are not permitted to pile trees by the street. Homeowners should request proof of insurance for any contractors that are hired.

- Yard waste, such as tree limbs may be taken to the Wastewater Plant burn pile (which will be open all day) or move closer to the street for the Town to pick up.
- Metal and "non-burnable" items may be taken to the empty lot behind the old Swayzee Cafe near the Recycle bins.
