The Town of Swayzee recently released its annual Water Quality Report (CCR) for 2021.

The EPA requires community water systems to deliver a Consumer Confidence Report (CCR), also known as an annual drinking water quality report, to their customers each year by July 1st. These reports provide Americans with information about their local drinking water quality. Your CCR can help you make informed choices about the water you drink.

Neighborhood Watch program

Our Town Marshal is looking to start a Neighborhood Watch Program which will be independent of the Town Council and run by Swayzee residents.

Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program that enlists the participation of neighbors in cooperation with law enforcement to reduce crime, solve problems, and prevent crimes from occurring.

What Neighborhood Watch requires is each citizen to become more aware of their own neighborhood by being alert and observant and to call the police immediately to report suspicious activity or crimes. The Neighborhood becomes the “eyes and ears” of the police department.

WHAT ARE SOME BENEFITS OF STARTING A WATCH GROUP?
Partnerships with law enforcement and your neighbors
Reduction in crime
Creates a greater sense of security and reduces fear of crime
A more secure and better prepared neighborhood
A more united community
Builds bonds with neighbors, so people look out for one another

TYPICAL NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH MEETING AGENDA
Information sharing
Report suspicious activity
Discuss home security
Property engraving/protection

ocra grant update

1/26/2022

AME Consulting has completed the Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) Master Utilities Planning Grant which is a comprehensive look into the Town's Drinking Water, Wastewater, and Stormwater Utilities. The study consisted of site visits to multiple water plants and wastewater plants, existing condition assessments, alternative evaluations, asset management plans, and the study document which is approximately 500 pages in length. The process included many meetings with the town council, planning committee, and stakeholders. The highest priority is for a wastewater treatment plant capacity and process improvements project. Other needs and recommendations include a new water treatment plant and various improvements to sewer lines, water mains, and drainage infrastructure. OCRA has completed its first round of comments. AME Consulting is currently working to address those comments and resubmit the revised study back to OCRA. Once OCRA approves the final Study, Town Council will take action to approve a resolution to adopt the Study.
